PACE WITH GRACE

I will attempt a short hunt and peck blog today until right hand gives out. The title of this blog comes from Pastor Mark Seifried, pastor at our Haydenville UCC church,

remarking on how he would rise early in the morn to walk during awful sciatica pain. I think this is a perfect meme for the many times in our life when we are facing dire situations and the only strategy we can come up with is Pacing With Grace.

Think of when you or your wife were giving birth, and how your partner walked around the room, back and forth, waiting for the dilation of 10 cm. to be reached.

While birthing Char, I  listened to Scarlatti on headphones as I paced the birthing room at CDH,waiting for the magic words, "You can push."

Of course, at times pacing doesn't do t'job, as the Brits say, and I would have to stop in intense pain, kneel, and rest my head on a blue bean bag.

Maybe you or a loved one is dealing with cancer, surgery, and chemo

and walking back and forth on a sidewalk or deck is the only thing that helps, except for hearing bird calls and the sweet rustle of the wind in the near pines.

Or possibly one of your kids is in deep trouble, and you just cannot see how you and the family are going to survive this time. Been there, done that, and if you have ears to hear, God might tell you to read Romans 5 as she did to me in a time of despair. Look it  up, verses 3-5. THAT is Pacing With Grace indeed.

Write down a favorite Psalm on a card and repeat it to yourself as you walk up and down. Grace will follow you, depend upon it. It might be a lessening of your worries; a new perspective may come to you letting you see the problem in a different light; or the physical pain may  become softer. Grace. It is there for the asking, always. Do not doubt it!

Please forgive the bold type early on.l Was a mistake and I do not have spoons or typing to fix it!
